“Our strong fourth quarter results reflect the continued strength of our brands and business,” said Robert A. They also announced that Direct-to-Consumer & International revenue for the quarter increased from $ 0.8 billion to $ 3.4 billion and segment operating loss increased from $ 340 million to $ 740 million. The increase in operating loss is due to the consolidation of Hulu, costs associated with the upcoming launch of Disney + and their continued investment in ESPN +, which launched in April 2018. In the last quarter, Disney generated revenue for Disney +, with people paying up front for annual and 3-year offers, although they spent more on creating content and advertising.

Bob Iger also spoke during the question-and-answer session about the conduct of the trial for Disney + in the Netherlands. They have already discovered that a wide range of people use the app and that using downloads on devices is popular, as well as viewing in 4K.
